Scholarships High School Students Education and Leadership Development Program

The JRF's Education and Leadership Development Program (ELDP) recognizes that students need far more than money in order to reach their full potential as leaders and scholars. For that reason, JRF reaches beyond the scope of most scholarship programs to maintain mentoring and support relationships with each scholarship recipient, awarding four-year scholarships with cash awards of up to $7,500 per year for high school students to attend the college or university of their choice. In addition, Scholars are financially sponsored to attend the annual Networking Weekend.

Networking Weekend and Regional Seminars
Scholars attend regional and national seminars with topics ranging from career development to business technology and social activism. JRF’s vast network of supporters and related field experts host these seminars.

Mentors
JRF Alumni, selection committee members, corporate sponsors, community leaders and staff are all active mentors in the program. Scholars have access to a variety of individuals to discuss academic and career matters throughout their formative collegiate years and beyond.

Internships and Job Opportunities
Corporate scholarship sponsors annually provide summer internship placement for all matriculating scholars, as well as job opportunities for graduating seniors and JRF alumni.

Resume Network
JRF provides access to a wealth of talented alumni through its resume network. Sponsors tap into a pool of talented and diverse minority graduates. Recruitment of new employees through JRF is not limited to the Scholar they sponsor.

The requirements for this scholarship are as follows:

  • Be a high school senior, accepted to a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Be a minority student and a citizen of the United States.
  • Have demonstrated high academic achievement and financial need.
  • Show evidence of leadership potential and interest in their communities
